Advice and Consultancy

Whether as simple as a site visit to obtain a sample or to conducting a full scale emergency
disaster incident management and incident reporting, Carters have the expertise on hand
to manage any asbestos related situation that may arise. This includes comprehensive
procedures and documentation to meet all regulation requirements to demonstrate our
client’s compliance to ‘duty of care’ when an asbestos related incident occurs.

We are available on a stand-by basis via our 24 hour helpline 0417 814 330 should any
accident / incident / emergency arise. Carters will advise on immediate procedures that
should be adopted as an interim to visiting the site and implementing a total hazard
management plan which may include air-monitoring services, clean-up and removal or
specialist advice and training and on-site staff de-briefing sessions.

Compliance Management

Carters provide tools to assist clients in meeting their internal management compliance
obligations under the regulations.

Asbestos Management Policy

The aim of the Asbestos Management Policy is to enable the effective management of
all hazards associated with asbestos through a structured program that eliminates or
minimises exposure in accordance with legislative requirements.

Policies are to be established, adhered to and recorded in the Asbestos Register to
control all asbestos and prevent exposure of any person to that asbestos, ensuring
a safe working environment is established and maintained.

Carters can provide a complete Asbestos Management Policy framework adapted to
your particular organisation structure and business requirements. The Asbestos Audit
is the first step.

Hazard Management Plan

From the survey / inspection findings, and using OHS&W guidelines, recommendations
are made to minimise the possible health risks due to exposure to asbestos in the
workplace. Recommendations vary considerably according to the degree of hazard.

This information is then used to compile and implement an Asbestos Hazard Management
Plan, which includes understanding and awareness of the obligations, limitations,
regulations, and responsibilities under the OHS&W Act. Advice on the use of caution
signs to warn of the presence of asbestos is incorporated into the recommendations.

It should be noted that the Hazard Management Plan proposals are recommendations
only and that implementation of the Hazard Management Plan is the responsibility of
the building owner / manager.

Carters provide a FREE Online Induction Training package which explains all of the terms, conditions, obligations, regulations and limitations, ensuring both an awareness and understanding of the responsibilities of the person(s) in charge of the Asbestos Register(s).
